Roundup: Bengals score on passed ball, earn split with Silverado

Bonanza’s Keanu Atienza-Sabagala scored on a passed ball with one out in the bottom of the seventh to give the Bengals a 3-2 win over visiting Silverado on Saturday in the Bengal Varsity Tournament.

Bonanza tied the game when Orbien Hernandez-Silva singled home Ryan Webster earlier in the inning.

Cayden Duncan went the distance, allowing one earned run on six hits, to get the win.

He struck out six and walked two.

In the second game, Silverado scored three runs in the top of the sixth and beat the Bengals 6-5 to salvage the split.

Caleb Hubbard went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs to lead Silverado. Dax Fellows was 2-for-4 with two runs for the Skyhawks.

Atienza-Sabagala was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Hernandez-Silva went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI to lead Bonanza.

Ryan Webster and Brandon Rivera each added two hits for the Bengals.

Shadow Ridge 7-15, Boulder City 4-0 — At Shadow Ridge, Brennen Lyman was 6-for-7 with four RBIs and picked up a pitching victory to lead the Mustangs to the sweep of the Eagles.

In the opener, Lynam threw five strong innings to get the win and had a double, a triple and an RBI to lead Shadow Ridge.

Kaden McDonald went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and Austin Cullor was 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI for the Mustangs.

Lynam allowed two runs on five hits in five innings with five strikeouts.

Jimmy Dunagan homered in the opener for Boulder City.

In the second game, Lyman was 4-for-4 with a run and two RBIs, and Kiefer Morgan went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs to lead Shadow Ridge.

Mitchell Maxfield limited Boulder City to two hits in four innings to get the win in the second game.

Faith Lutheran 10-5, Spring Valley 1-12 — At Spring Valley, Jonathan Bakken doubled and drove in four runs in the second game as the Grizzlies salvaged a split with the Crusaders.

Mitchell Otis went 2-for-2 with three runs and also allowed one run in four innings of relief for Spring Valley.

Kade Higgins went 2-for-3 with a double two runs, and Chase Rodriguez tripled and drove in three runs for the Grizzlies.

In the opener, Zack Phillips allowed an unearned run on five hits in six innings to get the win for Faith Lutheran

Carson Bonus was 2-for-4 with a double and a run, and Jacob Ortega and Brayden Palluck each drove in three runs for the Crusaders.

Donovan Souder went 2-for-3 with a double for Spring Valley.

Legacy 7-14, Durango 13-7 — At Legacy, Forrest Grevelis went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs in the second game as the Longhorns salvaged a split with the Trailblazers.

Grevelis also went the distance to pick up the win for Legacy, which managed just six hits.

Renae Lara had an inside-the-park homer for Durango.

In the opener, Duke Pahukoa was 2-for-2 with an inside-the-park homer and three runs to lead Durango.

Jacob Bavaro went 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs, and Ryan Barry and Jason Salazar each drove in three runs for the Trailblazers.

Grevelis went 3-for-4 for Legacy.

Sundevil Invitational

Championship game washed out — The championship game between Lincoln County and Chaparral was rained out, and the tournament declared the teams co-champions.

Chaparral 16, Tech 4 — At Eldorado, Antonio Vara was 4-for-5 with a double, two runs and three RBIs as the Cowboys beat the Roadrunners in the semifinals.

Cannon Greene went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and Robert O’Connor was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and two RBIs for Chaparral.

Anthony Suazo went 2-for-2 with a run and an RBI for Tech.

Chaparral 18, Canyon Springs 3 — At Chaparral, Rodney Elosegui was 2-for-4 with a double, three runs and two RBIs to help the Cowboys to the four-inning win over the Pioineers.

Alfredo Ramirez drove in four runs, and Greene and Vara each added two RBIs for Chaparral.

Martin Blake had a solo homer for Canyon Springs.

Tech 3, Mojave 2 — At Eldorado, Sean Jones hit a two-out RBI double in the bottom of the fifth to break a 2-2 tie and give the Roadrunners the win over the Rattlers.

Jones was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Jose Leon went 2-for-3 for Tech. Leon picked up the win, allowing no earned runs on three hits in 5 1/3 innings. He struck out seven and walked four.

Desert Pines 8, Canyon Springs 7 — At Chaparral, the Jaguars scored five times in the bottom of the sixth to come from behind and beat the Pioneers in a six-inning consolation game.

Jorge Milian scored the tying run on Salvador Becerra’s sacrifice fly, and Cesar Bailon scored on the throw to give Desert Pines the win.

Becerra had three RBIs, and Raymond Minero went 2-for- with two runs to lead the Jaguars.

Martin Blake went 3-for-4 with a double and three runs for Canyon Springs.

Eldorado 4, Desert Pines 1 — At Eldorado, Christian Younger went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs to lead the Sundevils over the Jaguars.

Aaron Rogers struck out 10 over six innings to pick up the win.

Juan Castaneda was 2-for-3 with a solo homer for Desert Pines.

Lincoln County 11, Clark 7 — At Eldorado, two doubles keyed a four-run eighth inning as the Lynx topped the Chargers.

Clark’s Dylan King went 2-for-3 with a double, and teammate Kelsey Brooke added a pair of singles.

Clark 8, Mojave 1 — At Chaparral, Dylan Sechrist threw a one-hitter with five strikeouts to lead the Chargers over the Rattlers in a game shortened to three innings by darkness.

Cactus Classic

Alta (Utah) 9, Virgin Valley 6 — At Mesquite, the Hawks scored three runs in the second and four in the third to take control and beat the Bulldogs.

Cade Anderson went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and two RBIs to lead Virgin Valley. Jayden Perkins went 2-for-3 with two RBIs for the Bulldogs.

Virgin Valley JV 18, Valley 13 — At Mesquite, the Bulldogs junior varsity topped the Vikings.

Gatlin Hardiman went 4-for-5 with a run for Valley.

Cimarron-Memorial 8, Lehi (Utah) 4 — At St. George, Utah, Andrew Johnson went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs to lead the Spartans over the Pioneers in the K.J. Harrison Classic.

Cameron Stafford was 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI for Cimarron.

Cimarron-Memorial 10, Melba (Idaho) 0 — At St. George, Utah, Gabriel Galindo tossed a two-hitter as the Spartans topped the Mustangs in five innings at the K.J. Harrison Classic.

Seth Hoffman went 2-for-2 with a home run, two runs and two RBIs, and teammate Bryce Justice was 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI for Cimarron.

Desert Hills (Utah) 5, Foothill 1 — At St. George, Utah, The Thunder scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth to beat the Falcons in the Summit Athletic Club Invitational.

Kelton Lachelt went 2-for-3 with two doubles and a run for Foothill.

Foothill 5, Orem (Utah) 1 — At St. George, Utah, the Falcons managed just two hits, but still knocked off the Tigers in the Summit Athletic Club Invitational.

Tommy Dirk had a double and an RBI for Foothill.

Jacob Heiselbetz allowed four hits in five shutout innings to get the win.

Pahranagat Valley 14, Moapa Valley JV 5 — At Mesquite, Preston Higbee was 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBIs as the Panthers beat the Pirates junior varsity in four innings.

Stockton Maxwell was 2-for-3 with two runs for Pahranagat Valley.
