Coroner identifies woman killed in utility pole crash

The Clark County coroner’s office on Sunday identified the woman who died after crashing her car into a utility pole on Saturday.

Beatrice Valencia, 22 of Las Vegas, was driving a 2008 Dodge Caliber west on Owens Avenue about 7:20 a.m., near the intersection of Owens and Pecos Avenue, when for “unknown reasons,” she veered off the road and crashed into a wooden utility pole, police said. She was critically injured in the crash and died later at University Medical Center.
