KINGMAN, Ariz. — A Bullhead City, Ariz., woman jailed on drug charges after her 8-year-old daughter was killed, has given birth to a boy and will report back to jail this week, according to her lawyer.
Tania Grogan, whose daughter Isabella “Bella” Grogan-Cannella was found strangled and buried in September, was released from jail May 20 on maternity furlough, defense attorney Brad Rideout said Tuesday. His client delivered a healthy boy May 28 at Kingman Regional Medical Center.
Grogan, 29, must check back into custody by Wednesday morning, according to the terms of the furlough, Rideout said. She will enter a plea agreement resolving her drug charges Thursday. Rideout said the deal with the state will result in a multi-year prison term for Grogan.
Rideout said Grogan’s newborn and an older sibling will be in the care and custody of family while she serves her time.
Grogan learned she was pregnant shortly after Bella’s death. She and husband Ralph Folster and Folster’s mother were arrested on charges of selling methamphetamine from the same home from which Bella disappeared.
Grogan’s friend, Justin Rector, 26, faces a possible death sentence if convicted in the homicide.
Folster, 28, reached a previous plea agreement resolving his drug charges. He is serving a 20-year prison sentence.
