Porn audio blares over loudspeakers at Target

Customers at a Target store got way more than they bargained for when x-rated audio began blaring over the loudspeakers as they shopped Wednesday morning, according to a report from KPIX-TV.

The incident took place a Target store in Campbell, Calif., near San Jose, the television station said.

Customers were subjected to explicit profanity and the sounds of a woman moaning. A shopper named Gina Young was there with her children, and videotaped the incident on her phone.

Young posted the video on her Facebook page, and it quickly went viral.

"Porn blasting over the intercom throughout the store," Young posted. "People offered to help me cover my twins ears. Others threw there (sic) stuff down and walked out. Employees were running around everywhere. Picking and hanging up phones."

Young estimated the audio was interrupted by a manager's apology, but then resumed for more than 15 minutes before someone at the store figured out how to turn it off.

"People were screaming at employees, video taping, some laughing, some disgusted," she continued. "It was terribly awkward."

Wednesday's incident was the second time pornographic audio has played at a Bay-area Target store, according to USA Today. In July a similar situation unfolded at the Target in San Luis Obispo. The Target in San Luis Obispo was evacuated while employees figured out how to turn off the offensive audio, the report said.

Police investigators and Target security personnel are trying to determine how the sound systems at the stores were manipulated.

"We are actively reviewing the situation with the team to better understand what happened and to help ensure this doesn't happen again," said Target spokesperson Molly Snyder in a written statement. "Because this is an active investigation, I'm unable to share additional details, but we want our guests to know that we take this very seriously."
