Police: Suspects, posing as missionaries, beat and robbed man

Police are looking for two suspects who posed as Mormon missionaries to beat and rob man on June 27 near Flamingo and Buffalo roads.

The men knocked on the victim’s door about 6:20 a.m. and asked to speak with him about religion, according to Las Vegas police.

After a five-minute conversation, they beat and robbed the victim at gunpoint before fleeing the scene, police said.

“It is unfortunate to learn that thieves are imitating LDS missionaries,” said Kristen Howey, a Mormon church representative.

She said missionaries always wear official name tags with their last name, the church logo and “The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints” imprinted on it.

Both suspects were wearing white shirts, black pants, black ties, black shoes and black backpacks. One of the men was armed. The police do not know whether the suspects were wearing name tags.

The first suspect is described as a man between the ages of 22-28, 5 feet 7 inches tall and 130-145 pounds.

The second suspect is described as a man between the ages of 22-28, between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet 1 inch and 190-210 pounds.
