Garage fire damages home in southern Las Vegas

Two cats were rescued from a garage fire in the southern valley Wednesday night that caused an estimated $100,000 in damage.

Just before 10:30 p.m., the Clark County Fire Department responded to a fire at 11739 Village Arbor St., near St. Rose Parkway and Las Vegas Boulevard South, Deputy Fire Chief Jeff Buchanan said in an email Thursday.

“Upon arrival, personnel reported smoke and flames showing from the garage of a single-family house,” he said.

Firefighters extinguished the fire by 10:34 p.m. No injuries were reported.

“One of the cats was unresponsive and was revived with a pet oxygen mask,” Buchanan said.

The fire’s cause remains under investigation. It is unknown whether the home’s occupants were displaced because of the fire.
