ADD THESE FIVE TRENDS TO YOUR WINTER CLOSET
December 14, 2007 - 10:00 pm
Cold. Lack of sunlight. Gusty winds. All of these weather patterns that creep up in December can make you feel just dismal. And with a few more months until the weather changes for the better, you need to look to something bright to cheer you up. We generally turn to fashion.
Fall ushered new trends that can add a dazzle to your wardrobe and brighten your outlook at the same time. Here's a look at five trends and how to wear them with confidence.
STUCK IN THE MIDI WITH YOU
Pencil skirts, midi-length dresses that hit halfway up your calf and cropped pants can make your lower body look long and lean. Add a pair of stilettos or towering platform pumps to elongate your look even more.
MINI ME
The mini-skirt made a comeback this season after sitting in the back of the closet for a while. Dress down your favorite mini with a pair of flat knee boots. Dress it up with pair of high-heeled shoe boots.
PEEPING TOM
Any pair of shoes can feel brand new when you pair them with opaque tights. Peep toes especially look refreshing with a bright-colored toe popping out. Platforms will lift your feet from the ground and protect your soles from the elements.
HYBRID BOOT
What's not to love about the shoe boot? It adds a menswear touch to wide-legged jeans or skinny pants. It looks perfect with a tunic and opaque tights. The mini even likes to be paired with this trend.
JUST BELT IT OUT
Defining your waist became an in trend with the prevalence of wide belts. Cinch in your tunic with a stretchy belt with a big buckle, or use your wide belt to tame a bulky sweater or winter coat.
