A 6-year-old boy died Monday evening after he drowned in a pool in the backyard of a southwest valley home, according to Las Vegas police.
Officers responded at 4:21 p.m. to a house in the 5000 block of Cindy Way, near South Decatur Boulevard, just north of Desert Inn Road, Metro spokesman Lt. Dave Valenta said Monday night.
Children were swimming in the pool at a family barbecue in the backyard of the home when the adults lost track of one of the children.
The boy was found at the bottom of the pool and was taken to University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, Valenta said.
It appears the drowning was not criminal and the boy’s parents will not face charges, Valenta said.
The boy’s identity will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office.
