The retail startups come and go at downtown Container Park. And that’s the way they like it at Downtown Project’s flagship development.
Downtown Project, Tony Hsieh’s $350 million downtown redevelopment initiative, welcomed five new businesses to its outdoor startup incubator village.
With Mayor Carolyn Goodman on hand to welcome the newbies, Container Park rolled out Uptown Children’s Boutique, Downtown Beauty Company, Sassy the Boutique, The Pink Tutu Ballet and Vegas Flip Flops.
The businesses are permitted to sign leases for as short as three months, Downtown Project Retail Director Doug McPhail said Thursday.
The shopping area at 707 Fremont St., made from repurposed shipping containers, has 38 stores and one vacancy, McPhail said.
Container Village also hosts various events, ranging from concerts to beer tastings, such as Friday’s “Open Container” event when local craft beer event organizer Motley Brews holds a mini beer tasting festival from 7 p.m.-9:30 p.m.
