In honor of gaming pioneer Jackie Gaughan’s passing, a casino memorabilia exhibit was created at the El Cortez.
The display, titled “Jackie Gaughan’s Downtown As Seen Through Gaming Memorabilia,” will give onlookers the chance to experience the history of downtown with the inclusion of actual gaming artifacts used at properties Gaughan owned or had interest in.
The Museum of Gaming History collected the memorabilia including: casino chips, tokens, dice, cards and shot glasses among other items that represent Gaughan’s nine properties, including the El Cortez.
