Chief executive of LVCVA will be off for medical reasons

Rossi Ralenkotter, chief executive officer of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, will miss next week's board meeting due to undisclosed medical reasons.

Authority spokesman Vince Alberta said Ralenkotter, 61, will work through the end of the week before taking "a few weeks" off for medical reasons.

"He though this was a good time to get it done," said Alberta. "He plans to return."

However, he said Ralenkotter has decided not to publicly disclose the nature of the problem or the treatment. His return date has not been set. In his absence, Senior Vice President of Operations Terry Jicinsky will take his place.

Ralenkotter has been with the authority for 37 years and was promoted to chief executive officer in 2004.
