Companies, nonprofits to be recognized

Do you love your job?

And your employer?

And would you like to tell someone about it?

Even as unemployment in Las Vegas remains above 11 percent, countless local people immerse themselves in jobs they love every day.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal would like to hear from you about your job and your employer and recognize them in an upcoming Top Workplaces special section.

For this project, the Review-Journal is teaming up with Workplace Dynamics, a survey company that has similar partnerships with dozens of other newspapers nationwide. WorkplaceDynamics conducts Top Workplaces surveys with 30 major metro newspapers and surveyed more than 1.5 million employees in 2011.

The Review-Journal wants to recognize companies and organizations of all kinds - that includes for-profit and nonprofit, from small startups to retailers to hospitals to Fortune 500 companies.

Just as importantly, we want to hear what the specifics and intangibles are that create employee satisfaction and business success.

The only requirement is that businesses or organizations have at least 50 employees.

Working from your nominations, Workplace Dynamics will enlist employers to participate in a satisfaction survey of their employees. Those employers that score highest locally - and meet national benchmarks - will make the list.

Review-Journal business reporters will then take that information and produce a section that will profile the best local employers and craft other stories exploring how great companies inspire their employees to greatness.

"I know there are many great workplaces in Southern Nevada," Review-Journal Business Editor Jim Wright said.

"I hear from their employees frequently and come in contact with them on a regular basis at meetings and mixers. This project is a great way to showcase those companies and their employees." he also said.

To nominate a workplace, you can go online at www.lvrj.com/topworkplaces

You can also call 702-628-9874.

Keep these key deadlines in mind:

Aug. 31 - Nomination deadline

Nov. 2 - The Review-Journal will begin to contact winners

January 2013 - The special section saluting winners will be published.

"The Review-Journal is anticipating a fine special section on our premier workplaces," Wright said. "The process begins today."
