Event for entrepreneurs set for Nov. 21-23
Entrepreneurs, startups and business leaders will converge Nov. 21-23 at The Innevation Center at 6795 S. Edmond St. to participate in Las Vegas Startup Weekend, a weekend-long event where entrepreneurs come together to pitch ideas, learn business basics, build partnerships and ultimately, start companies.
Startup Weekend, a global grassroots movement, hosts events around the world.
Las Vegas Startup Weekend (SWLV) follows the same basic model: anyone is welcome to pitch a startup idea and receive feedback from peers. Teams organically form around top ideas, as determined by popular vote. Each team has 54 hours to create a business model, code, design, and determine market validation. The weekend culminates with presentations of top ideas to entrepreneurial leaders and venture capitalists.
Rumgr, the winner of best design at the 1st Las Vegas Startup Weekend in June 2011, was recently acquired by retail giant e-Bay. Rumgr application enables users to buying and selling used items online in a garage sale type experience.
