From restaurants to medical centers, Centennial Hills’ businesses expanding
May 29, 2014 - 1:00 am
New bookstores, restaurants, medical centers and expansions are opening in the fast-growing area of Centennial Hills. View takes a look at some of the new and upcoming businesses in the northwest area.
BOOK AND GIFT STORES
Deseret Book, 5750 Centennial Center Blvd., opened in Centennial Center in late March.
The book and gift store sells Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints products, such as e-books, scriptures, music, audio, movies and Nativity decorations.
It also offers a wide variety of art, home decor, statues, jewelry and treats such as old-fashioned cream sodas, frozen pies and candies.
“The bookstore manages independently but distributes media that is in accord with church doctrine,” said Debbie Carson, manager. “We are a nice gift store and carry items similar to what Hallmark carries.”
The store is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays and from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

CONSTRUCTION RESUMES
Construction has resumed on the Centennial Hills medical campus in northwest Las Vegas. The 24.36-acre mixed-use development plans to offer medical and professional office condominiums for sale or lease.
The project consists of 18 buildings encompassing 290,269 square feet of medical and professional office and retail buildings. Eight of 18 planned buildings are already built and awaiting interior finishes.
The partially completed project was shuttered in 2008 due to the Lehman Brothers bankruptcy amid the economic recession. It is now back on track for phase one completion by summer 2014.
“We are completing renovating the property, so it will appear as though it was constructed this year,” said Michael Young, project developer. “It’s going to have a brand-new look and feel.”
So far, Retina Consultants of Nevada and Advanced Eye Care each have bought 5,800-square-foot buildings.
Centennial Hills Medical Center is a development of owners Malcolm Sina and Robert Sina, both of Sina Family Holdings LLC and Michael Young, co-founder of Huffman Builders West LLC-Las Vegas.
The project is set to be complete in July.
FARMER BOYS
Farmer Boys is scheduled to open in late May in the Centennial Center at the intersection of Centennial Center Boulevard and West Tropical Parkway.
The fast-casual restaurant chain was founded in 1981 by five brothers in Perris, Calif., and sells specialty sandwiches, salads and other sides, according to its website.

Braddah’s Island Style, 6410 N. Durango Drive, Suite 110, opened its second Las Vegas location April 15. The restaurant sells burritos, bowls and tacos with a Hawaiian twist.
“I’m ready to expand my brand, and we’re ecstatic to be in Centennial Hills,” said Christopher Campbell, founder. “Our brand just fits with the (family-friendly) demographic here. Braddah means brother in Hawaiian. We embrace the aloha spirit.”
Customers can chose from Kalua pig, Pulehu steak, Huli Huli chicken and grilled vegetables or fish.
It also offers catering and sells coconut bark, which Campbell describes as a salty and sweet-baked coconut chocolate crunch.
Restaurant hours are from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays. For more information, call 702-901-8516 or visit braddahstacos.com.

Al’s Donut & Cafe Burger, 7280 W. Azure Drive, Suite 150, opened May 5.
Cafe Burger joined with Al’s Donuts to build a “Doughnut-Burger Empire” in Centennial Hills.
The business sells gourmet-styled burgers, salads, sandwiches and breakfast items.
This new location is structured as a “quick-serve” restaurant, offering doughnuts, kronuts (a cross between a croissant and a doughnut) and a variety of other breakfast, lunch and dinner items.
“It was my idea to combine both restaurants,” said Cliff Van Cott, founder. “Burgers and doughnuts are the most common products that we eat in America. From a business point of view, the food works for breakfast, lunch and dinner.”
The restaurant is open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
