Frontier Airlines to unveil a daily Las Vegas-Kansas City flight
August 15, 2011 - 12:59 pm
Frontier Airlines will go head-to-head with Southwest Airlines on Nov. 1 by launching a daily flight between Las Vegas and Kansas City, Mo.
Southwest now has a monopoly on the route with four flights a day. By offering an introductory fare of $89 one way, Frontier initially will undercut Southwest, which has set $113 as its lowest price.
Although dueling over Kansas City is new, Southwest and Frontier have been competing with each other for a while locally with flights from here to Denver and Milwaukee.
Frontier, which is considered a low-cost carrier, has been expanding its schedules in Kansas City. The carrier recently announced it would also enter another Southwest monopoly market, going from Kansas City to Houston Hobby Airport.
