Real estate program will cover land buying

The commercial real-estate certification program's 2008 series will cover land acquisition in its next course, running 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. April 5 at the Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors office, 1750 E. Sahara Ave.

The Lied Institute for Real Estate Studies at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas will present the course with the Southern Nevada chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties and the Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors.

Cost is $95 per course or $760 for the nine-course package. Call 895-4492 for information.

Gov. Jim Gibbons named John Restrepo, Linda Rosenthal and Cathy Santoro to the Nevada Economic Forum, which provides forecasts of the state's general fund revenues for each biennium budget period.

The Shade Tree, a nonprofit shelter for homeless and abused women and children, named Marlene Richter executive director.
