Interstate says it will keep service business open after all

Interstate Plumbing & Air Conditioning reversed itself on Monday by keeping open its service business.

On Friday, the Las Vegas-based company announced it had shut down and laid off its entire staff of 335 workers due to financial problems. G2 Capital Advisors LLC, a national restructuring firm, had been advising Interstate and working with lenders to restructure the company.

"Following our layoffs last week in our construction sector, our 70 service department employees remain and we are continuing to accept new orders," the company said in a statement.

Interstate, which provides plumbing and heating, ventilation and air conditioning services for new homes and commercial buildings, said that it is finishing commercial projects that are near completion, but isn't taking on any new commercial projects.

The company, which had been licensed in Nevada, Arizona, California and Texas, will continue to operate only in Nevada.
