Las Vegas Metro Chamber selects executive vice president

Jerry Carnahan, former president and CEO of Farmers New World Life, a leading U.S.-based life insurance provider, has been appointed executive vice president of the Las Vegas Metro Chamber, the largest business organization in Nevada. Carnahan will also serve as executive director of the Las Vegas Metro Chamber Foundation, a 501(c) 3 organization dedicated to community leadership, workforce and education initiatives.

Carnahan will begin his new role Sept. 7.

Carnahan, 59, joins the Chamber with business leadership, strategic marketing, branding and sales experience. His career with Farmers Group Inc., part of Zurich Insurance Services, spanned 33 years, including roles as president of personal lines and chief marketing officer. As president and CEO of Farmers New World Life, he directed all aspects of the P&L through product development, sales, distribution, operation/platform finance and public relations. He has been a member of the board of directors at Farmers Group Inc., and also served as chairman of the board of Farmers Financial Solutions.

Carnahan also brings experience as a small-business owner to his new role. Prior to joining Farmers, Carnahan was a member of the United States Secret Service and before that he owned and operated an auto body repair business.

Carnahan received his bachelor's degree in management from the University of Phoenix, and is a graduate of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glenco, Ga. He currently serves on the Metropolitan Police Department Citizen Review Board and the board of Valley Bank of Nevada.
