McCarran workshop will try to demystify process for bids
July 28, 2011 - 1:01 am
McCarran International Airport will showcase its concession openings at a workshop on Friday.
Airport managers will try to demystify the lengthy and sometimes intimidating request for proposal process that any business must go through to win a bid. The airport now has openings in three different areas, including specialty retail, limousine and shuttle bus transportation, and a concierge service.
The way that federal law is currently structured, the airport cannot directly weight bids in favor of minority- or women-owned businesses. However, outreach efforts such as the seminar encourage these types of businesses to submit bids.
The seminar will start at 9 a.m. in a conference room at the airport and is expected to last three hours.
