North Las Vegas Chamber taps new president

The North Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce has named local construction company executive Curtis Cummings as its new president and CEO.

The announcement Monday comes a little more than a week after the resignation of Michael Varney, who is leaving to head the Tucson Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce.

"Curtis has demonstrated a high level of involvement in chamber activities and a keen awareness of chamber operations in his role as vice-chair of membership," North Las Vegas Chamber Chairman John McMillan said in a statement. "We believe he will be able to make the transition in executive leadership seamless and efficient. The board of directors is extremely confident that the momentum that the chamber has gained in the past year will be maintained or accelerated in the coming 12 months."

Cummings, who is an executive with builder Alan Jeskey, has been on the North Las Vegas board of directors since 2008. He's served on the North Las Vegas Chamber's executive board since 2009.
