Restaurant owner fined for failing to notify regulators of sale
BJ Property Inc., owner of a Las Vegas restaurant with a restricted gaming license, has agreed to pay a $2,000 fine for failing to notify state gaming regulators when the business was sold.
The Nevada Gaming Control Board filed a stipulation Wednesday with Burdett Jones, whose company BJ Property owns The 25 Bar at 4531 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Jones admitted to the violations rather than asking for a hearing.
The 13-page complaint said Jones sold the business and its slot machine operation in July 2011 for $1.1 million to Million Dollar Entertainment and Advertising Inc.
Jones and Million Dollar Entertainment never submitted an application for a new license. Million Dollar Entertainment entered into an agreement with Golden Route Operation to run the slot machines, which also was never licensed.
Golden Route issued 19 payments totaling $20,552.65 to Million Dollar Entertainment, the complaint said.
Several months later, Jones regained control of the business because Million Dollar Entertainment breached the terms of the sales agreement. The board said these were unlawful transfers of interest without approval of the Nevada Gaming Commission.
The five-member Gaming Commission must now approve the stipulation.
