The 4 best things to buy in November

You might be expecting to find holiday-related sales and deals — and you’re right. However, there are a few items that go on sale during November you probably wouldn’t expect, so get ahead on your 2015 budget by finding out how you can save on certain purchases this month.

Best Time to Buy: November Edition

November is perfectly situated between holidays so that budget-conscious shoppers can benefit in several ways. Halloween is over, allowing candy lovers to stock up at huge discounts, while Thanksgiving is just around the corner, though it’s better known to some as Black Friday Eve. And if you’re going after a big, once in a lifetime purchase, November is once again the month to spend when it comes to wedding dresses and RVs.

So no matter what’s on your shopping list, there are a number of ways to save money in November. Check out what’s best to buy this month:

Black Friday Electronics

Yes, it’s obvious a lot of things go on sale in November because of Black Friday, but that doesn’t mean you’re always getting a deal. In fact, there are only a few key items you should actually purchase on Black Friday, namely, electronics.

Black Friday electronics are some of the better deals that day, but usually for off-brands. If you’re looking to buy a major brand name TV or laptop at a significant discount, wait until Cyber Monday, or even next month when retailers are clearing out stock to make room for 2015 models.

Wedding Dresses

Have you ever noticed that the number of your friends getting engaged tends to spike during the holiday season? Well, those in the wedding industry have noticed as well, and bridal shops start stocking up on dresses in November in preparation for Christmas and New Years engagements.

The only problem is brides-to-be don’t actually start shopping for their dresses until January or February, which means those stores have to encourage sales during the slow period with discounts. Expect to find the best deals on sample dresses and same-day sales this month.

Candy

If you didn’t get enough Halloween candy or just have a severe sweet tooth, November is the best time to take all that leftover candy off the hands of retailers. Stores are desperate to unload the extra bags they have filling up space, and you can find candy discounted by 50 percent, 75 percent or even more.

Recreational Vehicles

Once it gets cold and snowy (typically around November), potential RV owners stop thinking about buying and wait until the warmer months are closer to begin shopping again. That means recreational vehicle dealerships are struggling to meet sales quotas and are willing to pass along a great deal.

Keep in mind, going after RV sales in November means you’ll also have to spend some money winterizing your vehicle and storing it, but often, you can score a discount that more than makes up for the expenses associated with buying during the off season.
