Now the helium shortage is affecting Las Vegas business.

With a dwindling supply, the price of helium is rising. Now Michele Rothstein’s Balloons With A Twist and A to Z Party Planning are feeling the pinch.

“This impacts our bottom line,” Rothstein said.

Both companies use balloons to provide their end products. Rothstein said the shortage is affecting similar companies citywide and that many gas companies are not taking on new clients, rendering helium-filled balloons a relic.

“Our children’s children may not know what a helium-filled balloon looks like,” she said. “At some point, helium may be used only for necessities and not things like balloons.”
