Las Vegas ranks fifth among AAA’s top 10 summer travel destinations.
In a statement, the auto club said its top 10 domestic travel destinations, in order, are Orlando, Florida; Seattle; Los Angeles/Anaheim, California; Honolulu, Las Vegas; Anchorage, Alaska; New York; Maui, Hawaii; San Francisco and Denver.
Citing a recent AAA survey , the auto club said nearly 56 percent of Americans are planning a driving vacation this summer.
“The lowest summertime gasoline prices in 11 years are prompting Americans to drive in record numbers,” AAA said. “More than half of U.S. adults say low gasoline prices are prompting them to hit the roads this year.”
In its Daily Fuel Gauge Report, AAA said the price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $2.451 in Las Vegas on Thursday, up from $2.425 per gallon a month ago but down from $3.276 per gallon a year ago. The year-to-year drop is 25.2 percent.
