Bail set at $500,000 in Egg and I restaurant crash

Bail was set Thursday at $500,000 for an 18-year-old accused of plowing a speeding vehicle into a crowded Las Vegas restaurant while under the influence of prescription drugs.

A judge gave prosecutors one week to file a criminal complaint against Gage James Lindsey. Prosecutor Brian Rutledge said authorities were awaiting blood test results.

Lindsey was jailed on charges of felony reckless driving, driving under the influence of drugs and leaving the scene of an accident in the Monday crash that left 10 people hurt at the Egg & I restaurant on Sahara Avenue. Clark County Detention Center’s website showed late Thursday he was no longer in custody.

Lindsey’s attorney, Sean Sullivan, said his client will plead not guilty. His next court appearance is April 11.

Police said Lindsey tried to toss a pill away and run from the scene before he was tackled by witnesses.
