Boulder City man arrested in attempted kidnapping of 6-year-old girl

A 30-year-old Boulder City man accused of trying to kidnap a 6-year-old girl from a park Monday was arrested Tuesday, Henderson police said.

James H. Allen was booked without bail into the Henderson jail on charges of attempted kidnapping, child abuse and burglary.

A citizen provided detectives with information on his identity after seeing the story in the media, police said.

“I would like to thank the citizen who came forward with information that was vital in solving this case,” Henderson Police Chief Patrick Moers said in a statement.

The girl was playing near baseball fields at Mountain View Park on Wigwam Parkway about 11:30 a.m. while her father was coaching during a practice, police said.

The girl was confronted by a man as she was leaving a bathroom.

The man spoke to her, grabbed her and tried to muffle her screams by covering her mouth. The girl screamed for help, which prompted him to let her go and flee.

She was unharmed but scared, police said.

Several witnesses placed Allen at the park before the attempted abduction, police said.

The man fled in a faded red Volkswagen.

When detectives arrested Allen, he had a red Volkswagen Golf, police reported.
