A man shot dead Wednesday after Metro said he stole a scooter has been identified by the Clark County coroner's office.
Charles Johnson, 38, address unknown, died from multiple gunshot wounds, the coroner's office said.
Metro was called at 7:50 a.m. to the Ridge Falls Apartments in the 2800 block of East Charleston Boulevard, near the intersection at Mojave Road.
When officers arrived, Metro said, they found Johnson with a gunshot would to the chest and a moped next to him.
An initial investigation determined that the owner of the scooter realized it was missing, grabbed a gun and went outside to look for it, police said.
He later found Johnson with the scooter and they fought, police said. That's when shots rang out.
Police had not publicly named the shooter Thursday, and haven't been any arrests in the case, said Metro officer Larry Hadfield. Once the investigation is finished, the case will be forwarded to the Clark County District Attorney's office for review.
