Deputy constable arrested in forgery investigation resigns

A deputy constable alleged to have forged marriage documents to a dead race car driver has resigned after being arrested Saturday morning at a Strip nightclub.

Allison Lear was arrested at Hakkasan nightclub in MGM Grand by Las Vegas police about 4:30 a.m., Las Vegas police booking reports indicate. She faces charges that include forgery and perjury.

Police suspect that Lear forged marriage documents to claim a relationship to Alexander Djordjevic, a race car driver who died on June 26, 2010, after his Porsche crashed during the Speed By Spectre 341 Challenge near Virginia City. A statement from the Storey County sheriff’s department calls Lear Djordjevic’s fiancee.

According to police, Lear and Djordjevic had signed a marriage certificate and held a wedding ceremony on June 21, 2010. That is impossible, father Slobodan Djordjevic told police, because his son had worked in their business on that date.

He said that Lear’s claims identifying her as the race car driver’s next of kin prevented his family from seeing his body. “From June until the end of August, we could not see our son,” Slobodan Djordjevic said.

Las Vegas police had issued felony arrest warrants for Lear on Dec. 17 .

Roughly a month later, though, the Las Vegas Township constable’s office hired Lear.

The constable’s office was notified of her resignation at 8 a.m. Tuesday morning, said Lou Toomin, spokesman for the office.
