Former UNLV basketball player Patrick Savoy was arrested Wednesday night on charges for trafficking of a controlled substance.

Police arrested Savoy after he sold $300 of cocaine to an undercover detective.

Savoy gave the detective two zip-locked bags of 7 grams of cocaine in exchange for the funds in the Terribles Casino parking lot on May 28, according to the arrest report.

Savoy, a native of Thibodaux, La., played for UNLV from 1993 to 1995 and led the team in scoring his senior season, averaging 14.7 points per game.

Savoy went undrafted after college, but played professionally in the CBA. He also played internationally in Argentina, Brazil, Belgium, France, Israel, Mexico, Spain and Venezuela before retiring in 2007.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal ranked Savoy No. 81 on its 2010 list of top-100 basketball players in UNLV history.

Clark County Detention Center records show Savoy was released Thursday morning.
