License for Las Vegas doctor in child porn case suspended indefinitely

To "protect the public and to allow Dr. Chung to prepare for and defend his criminal matter," the order says.

A Las Vegas doctor accused of videotaping himself having sex with sedated patients has agreed to the indefinite suspension of his license until his criminal case is resolved.

Dr. Binh Minh Chung had been scheduled for a hearing Monday after his license was temporarily suspended in June after his arrest on 10 counts of possession of child pornography and one count of using or permitting the use of a child for the production of pornography.

The Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners filed a formal complaint against Chung on July 9 alleging that in 2014 he had sexual contact with a patient and engaged in conduct that brings the medical profession into disrepute. On Monday, the order for indefinite suspension was signed by Christopher Oram, Chung's attorney. It was done to "protect the public and to allow Dr. Chung to prepare for and defend his criminal matter," the order says.

Court documents made public after the Review-Journal asked a judge to unseal them showed a 2006 case accusing Chung of fondling a 15-year-old female patient was dismissed as part of a plea deal.

Chung, 41, has been detained at the Clark County Detention Center since June 20 with bond set at $550,000.
