Man arrested in burglaries of Las Vegas, Henderson homes

Police arrested a man on March 25 in connection with a string of burglaries in Henderson and Las Vegas.

A joint effort between the Las Vegas and Henderson police departments led to the arrest of 36-year-old Michael Hoffman, who is accused of entering homes through the back door and stealing whatever easy-to-carry items he could in 20 to 30 seconds, especially jewelry and cash.

Police collected DNA from one burglary scene in Las Vegas and matched it to Hoffman, who had a criminal record dating back to 2000, according to Henderson police.

Police found evidence at Hoffman’s residence that linked him to a series of home burglaries valleywide. He also was connected to the burglaries by witness descriptions of his vehicle, a red Ford F-150 pickup truck.

Hoffman was booked into the Clark County Detention Center and charged with five counts of burglary and five counts of possession of stolen property by Henderson police. Las Vegas police also filed charges against Hoffman. Additional charges may be made as the investigation continues.
