Man involved in fatal Route 160 collision surrenders in Pahrump

A 55-year-old man from Pahrump turned himself in after being involved in a fatal hit-and-run in southwest Las Vegas on Friday morning, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Trooper Loy Hixson said the man, who was not identified, admitted to striking something with his vehicle while driving east on state Route 160, also known as Blue Diamond Road, near Cimarron Road. The man made a U-turn to look for the object he hit but drove back to Pahrump after he did not find anything, Hixson said.

He turned himself in to the Nye County Sheriff’s Department on Saturday morning after seeing reports of the accident on the news, according to Hixson.

A 29-year-old man’s body was found on the side of the highway around 10 a.m. Friday.
