Metro IDs officers involved in Friday shooting

Metro on Monday identified the two officers who shot a man they said sprung at them holding a "sharp object" Friday morning.

Officers Glen Taylor, 50, and Eli Prunchak, 41, are on routine paid administrative leave while detectives investigate the shooting, Metro said.

Police were called Friday morning to a house in the 6900 block of Berkshire Place, near the intersection of Rainbow Boulevard and Tropicana Avenue, after they received a call about a broken window at a house next door.

As they were investigating, they found Abel Correa, 24, of Las Vegas, hiding in a closet, police said.

Correa, police said, sprung at officers with a sharp object and was shot. He died at University Medical Center.

Taylor has been with Metro since 2000 and Prunchak since 1999, according to police.
