North Las Vegas man faces murder charge in wife’s death

A 57-year-old North Las Vegas man was charged Saturday with murder in the death of his wife, which authorities said was the result of his beating her last month.

Douglas Jones is being held at the Clark County Detention Center without bail on murder and battery-domestic violence charges stemming from the Dec. 28 incident, jail records show.

Jones' wife, who's name was not released, was found deceased about 10 a.m. Friday in her home in the 1000 block of Hammer Lane, near Washburn Road and North Fifth Street, North Las Vegas police said.

A Clark County medical examiner determined after a Saturday autopsy that the woman died of the injuries she received during the fight with her husband in December.

North Las Vegas police officers had already arrested Jones in connection with the domestic violence incident last month. At the time the victim, who showed bruising on her face and head, refused medical treatment, police said.
