Northeast valley shooting victim was from California

The man who was shot and killed Thursday while walking in the northeast valley was identified Sunday by the Clark County coroner’s office.

He was Christian Jesus Gutierrez, 24, of Oxnard, Calif., the coroner’s office said.

Police responded just before 11 p.m. Thursday to the 4100 block of East Cheyenne Avenue, near Las Vegas Boulevard North, where they found Gutierrez near the sidewalk suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Gutierrez had been walking in the area when he was shot in the torso, police said. He was taken to University Medical Center, where he died.

No arrests had been made Thursday, and the motive was unknown, police said. They had no description of the shooter.
