Pair plead not guilty to conspiracy and fraud charges

A construction defects lawyer and her live-in boyfriend entangled in an arson-suicide scheme pleaded not guilty to charges Thursday.

Nancy Quon, 51, and William Ronald Webb, 43, told District Judge Michelle Leavitt they were not guilty of conspiracy and insurance fraud charges.

Both Quon and Webb were charged in a nine-count indictment last month stemming from the suspicious fire at Quon's Rhodes Ranch home and from what authorities alleged was another suicide plot, obtaining an illegal drug the couple thought was undetectable.

Prosecutors alleged Quon burned down her home Oct. 28 in a botched suicide to escape the pressure of a federal investigation into homeowners associations.

Quon faces five felony charges, including first-degree arson, conspiracy to commit arson and insurance fraud stemming from the fire, which caused $250,000 to $300,000 in damage to her home.

Webb faces multiple felonies, including conspiracy to commit murder.

Webb, an 18-year Las Vegas police veteran, remained in custody at the Clark County Detention Center on $150,000 bail.

Quon is free on $50,000 bail.
