Police seek suspect in 2009 homicide

The Metropolitan Police Department is seeking the public’s help in locating a man wanted in connection with a 2009 homicide.

Kevin Alejandro Vargas is wanted in the fatal shooting of his friend Michael Guerrero near the 2600 block of Holly Avenue, near Vegas Drive and Simmons Street, in the early morning of June 24, 2009.

On the night of the shooting, Vargas, a minor at the time, was reported missing by his family.

Investigators, who released a composite photo showing Vargas as a 19-year-old, believe he may have fled to Southern California or Mexico. He is described as Hispanic, 5 feet tall and 140 pounds. A tattoo of a star and the word “Vargas” is on his right shoulder.
