Police: Two died in east valley murder-suicide

Two men whose bodies were found Thursday in an east valley mobile home died in an apparent murder-suicide, Las Vegas police said Friday.

The men were found dead from gunshot wounds about 1:26 p.m. Thursday at 1322 S. Mojave Road, near Charleston Boulevard and Pecos Road, police said.

"Evidence at the scene indicated an elderly male shot and killed a younger male and then turned the gun on himself," Metro wrote in a release Friday afternoon.

The Clark County coroner's office identified the younger man as 37-year-old Chad Allen Degroat, of Las Vegas. He died of a gunshot wound of the torso and his death was ruled a homicide, the coroner's office said Friday.

Police did not give the age of the older man or details about any relationship between the two.

The second man's name will be released by the coroner's office after his family has been notified.

This was the 68th homicide Metro has investigated this year.
