A woman acquitted of murder in the fatal shooting of her ex-husband 20 years ago in Florida pleaded not guilty Thursday to three felonies in the shooting of her adult son last summer in their Summerlin home.
Authorities say Linda Cooney shot Kevin Cooney with the same gun she used to kill his father in Florida.
Kevin Cooney was struck in the neck and was paralyzed.
He has not cooperated with authorities, though he has told medical staff that his mother shot him, court documents show.
Authorities say that on June 27, Kevin Cooney was shot after an argument with his mother over his ex-girlfriend.
Linda Cooney was indicted earlier this month on three charges, including attempted murder, battery with use of a deadly weapon resulting in substantial bodily harm-domestic violence and intimidating a witness.
A trial date was set for Feb. 19 before Judge Abbi Silver.
Linda Cooney remains free on $100,000 bail.
Kevin Cooney, who worked as a bouncer at night clubs on the Strip and downtown, is considered an incomplete quadriplegic, meaning that he has some movement in his arms and legs.
According to court testimony, he has improved since the shooting and can speak again.
