1 dead after shooting at downtown Las Vegas motel
A man died after being shot early Wednesday morning outside of a motel in downtown Las Vegas.
Just before 2 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Safari Motel, 2001 Fremont St., near the intersection with Bruce Street, police said. Arriving officers found a man with gunshot wounds lying near a room’s doorway.
Officers’ investigation showed a driver got out of a car and into an argument with another man who was standing in the doorway of motel room 111, police said. The driver got back into the car, got a gun and opened fire, striking the man.
The suspected gunman then drove off in a white four-door sedan with dark tinted windows. The car was last seen driving eastbound on Fremont Street.
The man was taken to the University Medical Center’s trauma center where he was later pronounced dead, police said.
The driver is described as a tall, skinny Hispanic or Filipino man in his 20s, police said. He was wearing a black hat, white T-shirt and a black hooded sweatshirt, police said.
The Clark County coroner’s office will release the deceased man’s identity once their family has been notified.
