A Las Vegas police officer used a Taser on an intoxicated person Thursday night on the Strip.

The person appeared to be “very high on some type of illicit drugs” when confronted by police just after 11 p.m. on a pedestrian bridge near Flamingo Road and Las Vegas Boulevard South, according to Metropolitan Police Lt. Peter Kisfalvi.

Kisfalvi said the officer used the Taser in self-defense and to have help to get the person into custody.
