Las Vegas police investigating shooting in central valley

A pedestrian was shot by someone in a vehicle Wednesday night in the central valley.

Las Vegas medics and police responded to the reported shooting about 9:20 p.m. near the intersection of Washington Avenue and Minnesota Street — which is just east of the Washington and Decatur Boulevard intersection — said Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Charles Jenkins.

The 20-year-old victim had been walking south on Minnesota, when a dark-colored car pulled alongside of him. “Some words were exchanged, and someone fired a firearm from the vehicle,” Jenkins said. At least one shot was fired.

The victim was taken to University Medical Center’s trauma unit in critical condition but has since stablized, police said.

It’s unclear what led to the shooting. Police have no information on a suspect, other than the description of the suspect’s vehicle as a dark-colored car.
