Miniature exhibit marks 50th birthday of Princess Diana

The Royal Tea Society will honor the memory of Princess Diana with a miniature version of the "Diana -- The People's Princess" exhibit that toured Philadelphia, Atlanta and Kansas City, Kan.

"Remembering Princess Diana Miniature Dress and Doll Museum" will open Friday, just in time to commemorate Diana's 50th birthday, at Lakeside Center, 2620 Regatta Drive in Desert Shores.

The display will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays through Sundays throughout the month of July. General admission is $6; $4 for seniors and children younger than 12.

The exhibit showcases a doll-sized collection of 50 of Diana's dresses that were auctioned by Christie's for charity just weeks before her death in 1997. The museum includes replica tiaras, jewelry and authentic historic mementos of her life as a member of the British royal family. There also is a dress-up exhibit of princess clothes for young children.

An interactive area includes a library that provides insight into Diana's life.
