Brother-in-law of Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler found dead

Michael Cavallari, the brother-in-law of Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, was found dead Thursday in Utah after his car was abandoned nearly two weeks ago.

Cavallari's sister is former reality televison star Kristin Cavallari, who is married to Cutler.

The body was located Thursday morning in Grand County, Utah, in an area with steep and rocky terrain near exit 175 off Interstate 70. The Grand County Sheriff's Office was part of a search that lasted for days.

Cavallari, of San Clemente, Calif., was 30.

Kristin Cavallari said the sheriff's office informed her family that the body was found and that it was being taken to the Utah Medical Examiner in Salt Lake City for identification and to determine a cause of death.

The Cavallari family issued a statement asking for privacy.

"This is a very painful time and we are still processing it all," the statement said. "We kindly ask everyone please respect our privacy during our time of grieving."

Michael Cavallari's 2014 Honda Civic was found abandoned on Nov. 27 off a road with the motor still running and an airbag deployed after it apparently struck a large rock, according to the sheriff's office. A laptop, cellphone and credit card receipts were found inside.

Cavallari had been arrested in southern California days earlier on an allegation of making threats.

"I appreciate the thoughts & prayers that have been extended to me & my family," his sister tweeted. "I have such gratitude for those that have shared their support."
