Colorful sidewalks mark Summerlin art festival

La Strada dell'Arte and Celebration of the Arts join forces again for the Summerlin Art Festival. The 2008 edition of the event will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Summerlin Centre Community Park on Town Center Drive between West Charleston Boulevard and West Sahara Avenue.
Professional and amateur artists will paint the sidewalks with temporary chalk masterpieces while more than 120 artists display and sell their artwork.
The free weekend outdoor festival also features a full entertainment lineup including food art demonstrations (pumpkin and ice carving) by chef Chanh Bhoupa of Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts Las Vegas between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.; roving entertainers from the Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian; daily performances by "Stomp Out Loud" at 1 p.m.; and live music from 1:30 to 5 p.m. Singer-songwriter Shawn Eiferman takes the stage on Saturday while jazz musician David Van Such headlines on Sunday. Food and beverages will be for sale.
Celebration of the Arts hosts an extensive collection of artwork and crafts including paintings, glasswork, pottery, jewelry, sculpture, apparel and handmade soaps.
