Douglas, LaBeouf star in ‘Wall Street’ sequel
September 22, 2010 - 11:00 pm
Movie: "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps"
When: Opening Friday at local theaters
Cast: Shia LaBeouf, Michael Douglas, Carey Mulligan, James Brolin, Frank Langella
Director: Oliver Stone
The story: Some two decades after making the pronouncement "Greed is good," disgraced corporate raider Gordon Gekko's finally out of prison, warning Wall Streeters of coming economic meltdown -- and advising a young trader who, he hopes, will help him reconcile with his estranged daughter.
The buzz: Oliver Stone delivers his first sequel with a timely drama pegged to the global financial crisis. But the movie was in the works before 2008's meltdown, which prompted studio officials to order a script update -- penned by Alan Loeb ("21," "The Switch"), a licensed stockbroker who worked at the Chicago Board of Trade before heading to Hollywood.
