First Friday to take on special G.L.O. this month

The Global Light Objects Festival will be featured from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday as part of the monthly First Friday observance in the downtown Arts District.

The free event celebrates light, visual arts, music and performance and is in addition to the other regularly scheduled activities on Casino Center Boulevard, between Charleston Boulevard and California Street.

The Global Light Objects Festival will include artist invitational exhibits by Anthony Bondi, Denise Duarte, Miguel Rodriguez, Todd Von Bastiaans and K.D. Matheson; music by the Lon Bronson All Star Band; improv performances by the Steam Powered Giraffes, a roving musical pantomime; and the Spontaneous G.L.O. Parade, a glowing conga line with participants wearing their best light costume.

The event also will include a street-side film, "10 Years of Burning Man"; Arts + Community exhibit by a dozen local arts organizations; and a remembrance of the Las Vegas Centennial's 100 Mural Project.

Metered street parking is free on festival night.
