OFF THE STRIP OPENS AT THE LINQ, OFFERS WEEKEND BRUNCH

Off The Strip recently opened its first on-Strip location at The Linq, 3545 Las Vegas Blvd. South. It is offering the Just Real Food Brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. NORTHSIDE CAFE TO REPLACE THE GRIDDLE CAFE AT SLS LAS VEGAS

Northside Cafe was set to open Feb. 1 in the spot formerly occupied by The Griddle Cafe at SLS Las Vegas, 2535 Las Vegas Blvd. South. The cafe will be open 24 hours daily, offering breakfast, lunch, dinner and late-night menus inspired by Las Vegas’ classic coffee shops.

Jodi Hortze, founder and owner of The Griddle Cafe, decided last year to close the restaurant and operate The Griddle Cafe brand in-house, saying,”The unilateral decision to close The Griddle Cafe at SLS was a difficult one, but ultimately my focus is on growing the brand in new markets, operating as I have successfully for the past 15 years on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood, California. Being part of SLS was a great learning experience, one I will always have with me.”

CREAM TO OPEN IN DOWNTOWN SUMMERLIN

CREAM, a San Francisco-based dessert franchise specializing in high-quality ice cream sandwiches and other treats, has signed a franchise agreement to bring its first three locations to Las Vegas. The first store is slated to open at 1980 Festival Plaza Drive, No. 165, at Downtown Summerlin in March. The other two locations are expected to open on the Strip and the Fremont Street Experience.

CREAM (Cookies Rule Everything Around Me) features a menu of 20 ice cream flavors, 20 kinds of homemade cookies and 24 toppings. The menu also has milkshakes, floats, scoops of ice cream and other treats, such as The Cream Taco, a taco shell-shaped waffle cone with three scoops of ice cream and toppings. BELLAGIO ANNOUNCES CULINARY CLASSROOM LINEUP

Bellagio executive chef Edmund Wong plans to host the Executive Chef’s Culinary Classroom, a series of interactive, two-hour cooking classes, Feb. 12-Nov. 10. Wong and his culinary team will share ideas and techniques as they guide guests through the steps to creating a three-course meal. Classes will be held in the resort’s demonstration kitchen, Tuscany Kitchen.

The classes are set to begin at 7 p.m. Feb. 12 with Italian by the Lake. The rest of the schedule is: Dim Sum and Noodles, March 19; Tequila and Tacos, April 30; Healthy Gourmet, May 26; Backyard Patio Grilling, June 30; Learning to Roll … Sushi and Rolls, July 23; Back to School, Aug. 27; Cupcakes & Cocktails, Sept. 29; Octoberfest, Oct. 13; and Harvesting Thanksgiving 2.0, Nov. 10.

CHEFS FOR KIDS DINNER AND AUCTION PLANNED FOR FEB. 21

THE INSPIRE GALA TO BENEFIT THREE SQUARE FOOD BANK

Hospitality students at Southwest Career and Technical Academy, 7050 W. Shelbourne Ave., plan to host The Inspire Gala from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 24 to benefit Three Square food bank.
