View Dining Pick of the Week: Satay Thai Bistro & Bar

Satay Thai Bistro & Bar

3900 Paradise Road, Suite N, 702-369-8788

Satay Thai Bistro & Bar started out as a Malaysian restaurant, but the menu grew over time, combining the rich, eclectic flavors of Southeast Asia — Indonesia, China and India. Today, its menu is extensive and includes dishes from all of these places, but the specialty is Thai. Small plates range from $5 to $10, with favorites such as golden calamari served with sweetened mayo and bacon-wrapped scallops with sweet Sriracha sauce. Soups ($5.50) feature vegetable and tofu, tom yum and tom kha. Rice dishes ($10) include nasi lemak served with coconut rice, house fried rice — a wok classic — and Thai spicy basil fried rice with a fried egg on top. Nasi goreng ($12) is Indonesian/Malaysian fried rice with shrimp, squid, tofu and a fried egg. Noodle dishes also are $10 and are served Singaporean, Malaysian, Thai and Chinese style. Curries range from $12 to $16 and are served with a choice of rice. Some unique variations are Thai duck, Malaysian lamb and Mama’s Chicken. Dinner entrees are $12, and most come with a choice of vegetable and tofu or chicken: spicy basil (pad kra pow); vegetable delight (pad pak ruam); pad prik khing (wok-fried galangal curry); Thai garlic or ginger; Kung Pao; and Mongolian. House specials range from $12 to $19 and include lemongrass chicken, chef’s garlic eggplant, garlic spinach and whole fish, available in three preparation choices: golden fried with sweet chili sauce; golden fried with Thai basil sauce; or steamed with sweetened ginger soy sauce. Desserts range from $3 to $8 and include banana fritters and mango sticky rice. The interior is spacious and contemporary, with traditional Asian artwork marking the walls, featuring lots of elephants and Buddhas. There is a fully stocked bar, and patio seating beneath strung twinkle lights. Satay Thai Bistro & Bar is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 11 p.m. Saturday through Sunday. For more information, visit sataylasvegas.com.
