‘Law & Order: SVU’ to air episode inspired by Rice incident

Well, that didn’t take long.

The hit television drama “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” soon will air an episode heavily based upon the real-life spousal abuse case involving suspended NFL football player Ray Rice and his wife, Janay Palmer, elle.com reports.

Rice, a former member of the Baltimore Ravens, was released from the team and suspended indefinitely by the NFL after elevator surveillance footage surfaced showing a violent altercation between the running back and his then-fiance in February.

The episode, entitled “Spousal Privilege,” is meant to open up a “long-needed national dialogue” concerning domestic violence, “Law & Order’s” showrunner stated.
